The MiXto SX® combines 10.6 μm wavelength,
the gold
standard for skin
renewal and resurfacing procedures, with a unique patented
scanner to deliver a precise matrix of MicroSpots. When
these
MicroSpots penetrate
into the dermis, they significantly tighten tissue and stimulate the formation of new
collagen to dramatically reduce the appearance of acne scars and
wrinkles while eliminating dyschromia and other sun damage related
skin defects.
The
MiXto SX® is the unrivaled leader in the technological evolution
of micro fractional CO2.
MiXto's benefits include:
Continuous wave CO
2
energy resulting in maximum lateral thermal diffusion and
collagen stimulation with minimal patient discomfort and
downtime
Two hand
pieces that can be easily interchanged intraoperatively and
deliver 180 um and 300 um
MicroSpots with complete treatment density and pulse width adjustments
Computerized pattern generation for
precise
reproducibility
Non-sequential delivery system for
maximum patient comfort and safety
The MiXto SX® gives
the practicing aesthetic clinician the ability to control the
amount of heat collateralized to the dermis, by allowing for
precise regulation of the depth of penetration, energy delivered per
pulse and
pulse width. The high-speed scanner, driven by a patent pending
algorithm, divides the scan area into four quadrants or "fractions" and skips the beam from quadrant to quadrant so
that each lase site is separated by the longest possible interval.
The process is repeated until the entire scan area is treated.
Distributing
the laser energy in this manner allows maximum time for thermal cooling
of the tissue and means less pain for the patient, and faster, more
predictable recovery.
With this "quadrant" fractional technology and a more
tightly focused beam, the MiXto SX® laser delivers uniform tissue
ablation well into the dermis causing immediate contraction and tissue
tightening. A secondary effect is the production of new collagen
over the next 6-12 weeks, which improves skin elasticity and
restores a more youthful, radiant appearance to the skin.
The MiXto SX® System
can be used in Micro Fractional Mode, Traditional Resurfacing Mode,
or Surgical (incisional) Mode, resulting in a flexibility that
delivers unequalled results.

1. How does the Slim E30 MiXto SX® differ
from other fractional CO2 lasers currently on the market?
The intent of fractionated resurfacing is bulk heating of the
dermis while sparing the majority of the overlying epidermal
tissue, and still having the procedure well-tolerated by
patients. Lasering has developed the optimum device specifically
designed to accomplish these seemingly contradictory tasks. The Slim E30 MiXto SX® is the only fractional CO2 laser that
combines fractionated skin resurfacing, traditional skin
resurfacing and tissue cutting in continuous wave (CW)
mode. The fractionated methodology is based upon a patent
pending algorithm which controls a high speed scanner delivering
a proprietary scan pattern which is predetermined and
repeatable.
2. How is the MiXto SX® scanning method
superior?
The MiXto SX® methodology is not based upon a sequential or
random scan pattern. The proprietary algorithm precisely
delivers the beam alternatively into four (4) quadrants within
the scan pattern allowing
maximum tissue cooling time between lase sites. This translates into
much greater patient comfort. In addition, MiXto SX® delivers the
beam in continuous wave (CW) "long pulse" mode for superior
thermal delivery in all available spot sizes.
3. What are the available spot sizes?
The MiXto SX®
high-speed scanner has two (2) quick disconnect handpieces for
maximum intraoperative flexibility. One delivering a 180 um spot and the other a 300 um
spot.
4. Why are there two (2) spot sizes?
The 300 um spot is used to deliver optimal thermal energy to the
papillary dermis for long term collagen production. The 180 um
spot is used for maximum ablative depth penetration to activate skin
tightening and minimize acne scarring. Both spot sizes can be combined with variable
treatment densities for optimal treatment outcomes.
5. What is meant by variable treatment
densities?
The treatment density of the MiXto
SX® can be adjusted from 5% - 40% for all sizes. For
example: A treatment density of 20% means that 20% of the
scanned area is treated leaving 80% untreated. However 100% of the
underlying tissue receives thermal coagulation (modification).
6. Why is thermal coagulation important?
Thermal coagulation of the dermis is the component of
the MiXto SX® treatment that stimulates the production of new
collagen, which continues for up to one year resulting in outstanding
predictable resurfacing
outcomes.
7. Why is it important to have various treatment
densities?
Variable density allows the clinician to administer a milder
treatment (lower %) to areas of less sun damage and laxity and a more aggressive (higher %)
treatment for the "trouble areas." Lowering the
density also allows one to treat skin types I - VI. The choice of setting is determined by treatment
indication, pheno-skintype and the patient's tolerance for
"downtime."
8. How long does it take to perform a
procedure?
On average, 20- 40 minutes for a
face, 15-20 minutes for the décolletage or arms, and 10-15
minutes for the hands.
9. How long is the recovery process?
This will vary from patient to patient based upon the level of
treatment prescribed and anatomical area treated. On the average,
4 - 6 days for the
face, 7 - 10 days for the hands, décolletage, and arms.
10. How soon could a patient come back for a
second treatment?
Most patients do not require a
second treatment. If a second treatment is requested by
the patient wait two months for the results of the first
treatment to become totally evident. Gradual improvement will occur
for up to 12 months due to ongoing collagen production and
remodeling.
C02 is a carbon
dioxide laser that
has been used for more than 25 years in the Aesthetic industry for
treatment of conditions such as fine and deep wrinkles, scars of various
origin, uneven pigmentation and dilated pores. When the C02 beam of
light comes in contact with the epidermis it heats and vaporizes the
skin tissue, instantly removing the superficial layers of the skin,
scars and wrinkles while smoothing out the surface of the skin. The skin
remodeling occurs with new skin and collagen growth. MiXto SX® stands for
the Mixture between C02 energy and fractional resurfacing, the SX stand
for surgical because the Laser can also be used to make a very clean
incision without bleeding.
2. How
does it work?
The MiXto SX® gives the Physician more control to
regulate the depth of penetration and the amount of heat delivered by
the beam. The high speed scanner, driven by a patented pending algorithm
divides the treatment area into four quadrants or “fractions” and
skips the beam from quadrant to quadrant so that each strike is
separated by the longest possible interval. This process is repeated
until the entire area is treated. Dividing energy this way allows
maximum time for thermal cooling of the tissue, less pain for the
patient and faster recovery! Compared to traditional resurfacing of the
past this is a big step in technology for the patient and the physician!
3.How is
this different than other laser treatments?
The MiXto delivers
more results in a 30-minute treatment than competitors can accomplish in
three treatments for less discomfort, downtime and cost.
4. Does it hurt?
For
most patients we apply topical anesthetic and oral tylenol then they can
drive themselves home. The discomfort is similar to bad sunburn.
5. What are the
risks?
Erythema (redness of skin); the laser-treated areas have a
distinctive redness representing increased blood flow due to the growth
of the superficial tissue and collagen. It will gradually fade during
the first few days. Inflammation (swelling); Treatment with the MiXto
System presents a minimal amount of swelling that can last up to 24
hours. Hyperpigmentation (tanning); This is presented after the third
day of the procedure but then begins to shed and reveal younger healthy
looking skin. A personal interview and clinical examination will be
conducted to obtain relevant facts about your medical and dermatologic
history, and any medications you are currently taking or have taken in
the past. If you are prone to cold sores, you need to ask your doctor
for an antivirius prescription before the treatment. Fractional
Treatment with the MiXto SX® has been proven safe for the face, neck,
chest and hands.
6. How long is
recovery?
Most patients are ready to go back to work the next day,
but it depends on the patient and their lifestyle. Typical downtime is
4-5 days.
7. What is the
recovery like?
The patient is red and can be swollen the next day.
On the second, third and fourth day the patient is peeling and can
experience a little itchiness typical to a sunburn.
8. When do you
see the results?
Right away! When we are doing the procedure you can
immediately see the skin contract and shrink. The patient will really
see the benefits by the time the skin is completely peeled and will
continue to see results for up to six months with new collagen
regeneration that "plumps" up the skin.
9. Who is the
best candidate for this procedure?
There are three separate groups
the MiXto applies to, the younger patient with severe acne scars, the
middle-aged patient with wrinkles and age spots and the older patient
with wrinkles, age spots and pre-cancerous lesions.
10. How many
treatments are needed?
In most cases only one, but for deeper
wrinkles and acne scars two or more treatments.
11. Is it just
for the face or can it be used on other areas of the body?
It is
most commonly used on the face but can be used on neck, chest, arms and
hands.
12. Is the
treatment expensive?
The new technology has actually brought the
price down without the compromising the results.
13. What is the
cost?
MiXto
treatments are generally under $3000.00 for a one-time full-face
treatment.

I find in using the MiXto that I can easily individualize
treatments to match the patient's desired results and their
tolerable down-time. The settings are easily changed for a deeper
ablation or more/less heat deposition. Most of my cases require only
one or two treatments, depending on the aggressiveness of the
treatment parameters. This includes the hard to treat acne scars.

I had some dramatic improvement in texture and sun spots almost right
away. My skin felt and looked tighter. The improvements continued for
the next several months resulting in diminshing of lines. LJR
I have always taken great care of my skin but nothing was helping with
the brown spots and fine lines on my face. I heard amazing things
about MiXto skin
resurfacing through my golfing friends and decided to try it
myself. The biggest improvement I noticed was the texture
of my skin was so much smoother. When I went to the Doctor for my
checkup visit, they were impressed with the texture but were more
amazed at the tightening effect it had along my jawline and around my
eyes. It's been six months since my MiXto
treatment and my skin improves everyday! Wilma G.
I have always taken good care of my skin but at 48 years of age I
started noticing brown spots on my cheeks and puffiness under my eyes.
I decided to take the step and see if the mixto could improve my
appearance. At my first visit they took my before photos showed me the
reality of how bad my skin looked without makeup! I scheduled my
treatment asap! The office managed my expectations so I was
prepared for the worst, and experienced what I thought was an
easy process. Within 4 days my skin was peeled and looked fresh
and slightly pink. I was told to wear sunscreen and could
apply makeup but didn't really need it. My skin looks
fantastic with one treatment and best of all my lower eyelids are not
puffy anymore! Kay
My name is Joe Doogan. I'm a 68 year old Irish male with fair
skin. My skin is sun damaged with premature aging, solar
freckles, actinic keratosis and pigmentation changes all due to the
sun. My Physician, John Shega M.D. recommended the MiXto
fractional C02 laser because of all the damage to my skin, and the
potential of future problems the spots could get worse. I also wanted
to look a bit younger! I had the MiXto procedure done on
8/11/08. After mild swelling with bronzing of the skin, I peeled for
about 2 days, and after a week the redness was gone. I have
received complement after complement about my "NEW" face and how
much "younger" I look, (one lady at my church actually said that I
looked Hot!) What a difference this has made for me! With smooth skin
now on my face and a younger look, I could not be more pleased.
I have been told I look 15 years younger, what a deal this is, with
just a few days of redness and peeling! Worries about future medical
problems with my facial skin have vanished and I now have a new face
and a new life! Joe Doogan
